Change-Based Test Management: Improving the Software Validation Process

Glossary

automation
The process of using computers to execute tasks. This is the opposite of manual execution.

black box testing
Testing without any knowledge of the interior operations of the product. With black box testing, you are testing the product against the requirements and you are only interested in whether the test passes or fails.
Build-Relative Strength (BRS)
The coverage number each test achieves in a given file multiplied by the weighting factor for that file. Totaling these numbers for each test gives the test a Build-Relative Strength (BRS). BRS refers to the priority you give each test for the current test run. It is important to note that the BRS of each test changes every time you generate a code delta or collect coverage data.
