Fundamentals and Applications of Microfluidics

Appendix B: Resources for Microfluidics Research

Journals

  • Sensors and Actuators A : A peer-reviewed journal for sensors and actuators with a lot of papers on silicon microfluidic devices. The journal is published by Elsevier Science, Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

  • Sensors and Actuators B : A traditional journal for chemical sensors published by Elsevier Science. With the recent issue on micro total analysis system ( ?TAS), the journal is also a considerable source for microfluidic devices and applications.

  • Journal of Microelectromechanical Systems : A peer-reviewed journal for MEMS, published jointly by IEEE and ASME.

  • Journal of Micromechanics and Microengineering : A peer-reviewed journal published by the Institute of Physics, Bristol, United Kingdom.

  • Journal of Biomedical Microdevices : A peer-reviewed journal published by Kluwer Academic Publishers, Dordrecht, the Netherlands. The journal focuses on microdevices for biomedical applications.

  • Lab on a Chip : A recent peer-reviewed journal of Royal Society of Chemistry, London, England. The journal is dedicated to applications of microfluidics in life sciences and chemistry. The first issue appeared in September 2001.

Conferences

  • International Conference on Solid State Sensors and Actuators (Transducers): The conference is held in odd years, rotating between North America, Europe, and Asia.

  • Microelectromechanical Systems Workshop (MEMS): The international workshop is held annually, and is sponsored by IEEE.

  • Solid-State Sensor and Actuator Workshop (Hilton Head): The workshop is held in even years, focusing on North America and is sponsored by the Transducers Research Foundation.

  • Micro Total Analysis System ( ?TAS): Since 2000, the conference...
