Introduction to Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA): Network, Services, Technologies, and Operation

There are three types of radio channels used in the IS-95 CDMA system: a wideband digital radio channel, a narrowband analog voice (audio) channel, and a narrowband analog control channel.
The key characteristics of IS-95 CDMA radio systems includes the use of a wide radio channel, multiple frequency bands, the ability to reuse the same frequency in each cell site, logical channel multiplexing techniques, full duplex radio channel pairs, precise RF power control, soft and hard channel call transfer (handoff), variable rate speech coding, discontinuous reception and discontinuous transmission for increased battery life.
The RF channel types used in the CDMA system are a wideband CDMA radio channel and narrowband analog voice and control channels.
