Mastering Autodesk Architectural Desktop 2006

VIZ Render is a stand-alone program used to generate presentation imagery photorealistic renderings based on designs developed in ADT. Bundled with ADT, VIZ Render is basically a simplified version of Autodesk VIZ, the more powerful architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) visualization product that is sold separately. The major difference from Autodesk VIZ is that you cannot create geometry in VIZ Render alone. Instead, you create the geometry in ADT and link the building models into VIZ Render. VIZ Render is much more powerful than AutoCAD's native renderer, which has been around for many years and is also a part of ADT.
In this chapter you'll add cameras in VIZ Render that allow you to fine-tune your point of view within the perspective of three-dimensional space. To achieve higher levels of realism, you'll learn how to merge 3D assets from Autodesk VIZ and/or discreet 3ds max into VIZ Render then you'll substitute these assets for placeholder content linked from ADT.
You'll also add light sources in VIZ Render that illuminate the model by emitting both natural sunlight and artificial light. Materials assigned to objects and styles in ADT are linked into VIZ Render in which you'll have the ability to adjust and refine materials for even greater levels of realism.
Geometry, cameras, lights, and materials are the necessary ingredients you'll be using to create photorealistic renderings. In the end you'll be able to produce still...
