Faucets can keep customers scratching their heads for days. Do they want single-handle faucets or two-handle faucets? Will pressure-balanced faucets be used with the bathing unit? Should the faucets have a chrome finish, an antique brass finish, or should they be plated with gold? A faucet selection for a lavatory can range in cost from under $50 to over $2,000. Yes, this is not a misprint. Gold faucets are available, some customers do buy them, and they are very expensive. Spec out your faucet list early and stick to it. Giving customers too much room to roam on this issue can be an expensive learning experience (Figure 5.12).
I find that the customers I have worked with in recent years tend to favor single-handle, chrome faucets. Some of them go for a more exotic finish, and a few go for the extremely expensive faucets. If you are installing a whirlpool tub, the faucet, or tub filler as it should be called, is going to be expensive. There is not a lot of advice need on this issue. You basically let your customers have what they want, just make sure you have it covered in your budget and that the faucet chosen will work on the fixture where it is intended to be installed.
