TABLE OF CONTENTS In this chapter we address the "soft side" of enterprise transformation and continuous innovation. This includes the management of process improvement teams and the approach to achieving integrated thinking often referred to as "systems thinking." The prelude presented the philosophy of managing and viewing the enterprise as a living system.
Chapters 1, 2, and 3 presented a structured methodology to business transformation linking the development of a future state vision with the radical approach to process improvement. We defined the approach to achieving an integrated enterprise by balancing all domains of change, including developing a culture to be ready for continuous innovation.
In Chapters 4 and 5 we presented the actual tools of process management and problem solving and described a 17-step closed loop problem solving process. In Chapter 6 we present practical tools and techniques for managing teams on a daily basis and developing an integrated systems approach to thinking. Integrated thinking is at the heart of effective cross-functional teamwork. While specific results vary by team, these techniques are designed to produce the following outcomes:
Create stronger relationships among team members which produce greater results
Foster a positive environment through increased levels of trust, respect, empowerment and camaraderie
Create improved processes and practices in team communications
Improve productivity by creating plans, goals and accountability to achieve desired results
