Applications

   Your choices are...
Construction / Building Site       Measuring tools used by contractors, carpenters, surveyors, or builders, for framing, layout, or rafters or stairs, foundation construction, cabinetry, mapping, executing site plans and checking building, or wall surfaces. Typically, construction tools require a greater measurement range, higher durability and less precision than machine shop measuring tools or gages.
Machine Shop / Tool Room       Precision measuring tools used by machinists, engineers, technicians or operators for layout, machine set up and checking of surfaces or parts.
Light Duty / Office       Lower precision, light weight, or lower cost measuring tools or instruments for office, residential, drafting, or other nondemanding end use.
Surveying / Field Work       Measuring tools used by surveyors or field technologists for mapping, executing site plans, and checking building or wall surfaces. Typically, surveying tools require a greater measurement range and higher durability than machine shop measuring tools or gages.
Other       Other unlisted, specialized, or proprietary applications.

Rule or Scale Type
   Rule or Scale Type:
   Your choices are...
Diametrical Tape       Specialized tape designed to quickly determine, without calculation, the diameter or circumference of a round part or feature. The diametrical tape provides a direct reading of diameter based on a circumferential measurement.
Drill Point Gage       Ruled gage for measuring drill point angle, lip length, and overall length.
Circumferential Rule       Specialized rule or tape designed to quickly determine, without calculation, the circumference of a round part or feature.  The circumferential rule provides a direct reading of circumference based on a diametrical measurement.
Length Gages       Length gauges are measuring devices used in product inspection, dimension checking during production, quality assurance measurements, and other industrial applications.
Flexible Rule       Rules or measuring tools made of thinner gage steel, plastic, or fiberglass that can bend and spring back into position.
Linear Scale       Linear scales are electronic measuring instruments or rules with digital or remote displays for integration into OEM products such as machine tools, microscopes, precision tables or stages, and optical comparators. Various technologies are used, such as a mechanical rack and pinion, magnetic pickup sensors, and glass scales with linear encoders.
Pocket Rule       Pocket rules are small rules 6" in length or less which usually have a combination clip and depth bar.
Rigid Rule       Rules or measuring tools made of thicker gages of steel, hardened steel, stainless steel, plastic, wood, or other materials that result in increased stiffness.
Short Rule       Very small (1" long or shorter) rules used for linear measurement in hard to reach locations such as cavities or holes in parts.
Shrink Rule / Tape       Rules or tapes used in pattern, foundry, and other applications where shrinkage of materials occurs. The rules adjust for a certain linear shrinkage per unit length that occurs in the manufacture of cast parts or other products.
Square Combination Set       Combination squares measure length, center, angular or squareness determination, and have transfer or marking capability. These multiple tasks are possible because these sets have a series of optional heads (square, center or protractor).
Straight Edge       Straight edges usually do not have any rulings, and are used for scribing or marking a line on a part for layout purposes. Straight edges are also used for drawing lines in drafting or charting applications.
Tape Measure       Tape measures have linear scales inscribed on flexible steel or fiberglass tape wound on a reel.
Other       Other unlisted, specialized, or proprietary rule, linear scale or tape measure.

OEM / Machine Mounted       Machine mounted gages, odometers, or scales are designed to measure the length, distance, travel or position changes on an OEM's product or machine. Odometers are often part of an automobile, truck, or vehicle design because lifetime is measured by mileage on vehicular products. In machine tool applications, OEM scales or gages measure the travel or position changes of a machine bed, table, or stage on lathes, milling machines, CNC routers, and drill presses. Linear scales are frequently used for machine travel indication. These scales are typically mounted on the machine or are designed into the product. These devices are built into machine tools, microscopes or other instruments requiring dimensional measurement or position control.

Specifications
   Units:
   Your choices are...
Inch / English       Gage or gaging system based on inches or other measurements within the English system.
Metric       Gage or gaging system based on meters, microns, centimeters, or other measurements within the Metric system.
Search Logic:      All products with ANY of the selected attributes will be returned as matches. Leaving all boxes unchecked will not limit the search criteria for this question; products with all attribute options will be returned as matches.
   Graduation
   Your choices are...
100ths Graduations        Rulings of 1/100 of an inch or 0.01 inches.
10ths Graduations       Rulings of 1/10 of an inch or 0.1 inches.
32nds Graduations       Rulings of 1/32 of an inch or ~0.031 inches.
16ths Graduations       Rulings of 1/16 of an inch or ~0.062 inches.
Other       Other unlisted, specialized, or proprietary ruling graduations.

Length:       The length of the rule or blade of a square. The blade length is the longer, flat leg of a square. On most rules, the rulings extend the full length of the tool and the length is equal to the range.
Search Logic:      User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.

Features
Certificate of Calibration       Document indicating that the gage meets or has been calibrated to specific dimensional tolerance or gaging precision standards requirements. ANSI, ISO, DIN and NIST standards are used to control gage calibration.
Search Logic:      "Required" and "Must Not Have" criteria limit returned matches as specified. Products with optional attributes will be returned for either choice.
Magnetic Holding?       Magnetic base, insert, or a magnetized component that provides clamping or holding capability. The features may allow the tool or accessory to be clamped or attached to machines, instrument or other equipment.

   Materials
   Your choices are...
Aluminum       A ductile, lightweight metal that has good electrical and thermal conductivity, high reflectivity, and resistance to oxidation.
Brass / Bronze       Brass and bronze are copper based alloys strengthened with additions of tin, zinc and other alloying elements. Brass and bronze alloys are machinable and have good corrosion resistance.
Plastic       Any of numerous organic, synthetic, or processed materials that consisting mainly of thermoplastic or thermosetting polymers of high molecular weight and that can be made into objects, films, or filaments.
