Chapter 13: Moving Security Education into the Work Environment

Overview

All organizations have a need for installing the TEAM (training, education, awareness, and motivation) concept as a continuing influence on the job for each employee. We need to be available to our organizational employees all of the time, able to step back from other duties to provide advice and assistance, to answer questions even the most mundane ones in order to provide the best possible service, and, finally, to be sure that security is uppermost in the minds of our fellow workers.

The use of promotional materials, such as posters, reference handbooks, mementos, and other published materials are some of the proven methods that can be used to provide continual security reminders to everyone throughout the organization. Depending on the organization, you might even consider interactive video as a possibility. The use of the TEAM concept in meetings and everyday interaction must be seriously considered, carefully evaluated, and then implemented to assure its maximum effectiveness and reception by all organizational employees.
