New Supervisor Training

Trainers owe it to those they train to model continuous learning. The best way to do this is to establish and commit to a set of steps that make continuous professional growth part of the trainer's day-to-day work. This tool is intended to assist trainers in thinking through a realistic and achievable action plan for improvement.

Instructions: Answer the following questions. In drafting your action plan, focus on creating a plan to which you are completely committed. Write your responses in the spaces provided below.
What two or three competency areas most need your immediate attention? (Remember the saying, More than three goals are no goals .)
What opportunities are available to you to develop in those competency areas?
What support do you need to develop in your chosen areas of emphasis?
What is your first step?
What other moves do you need to make in order to grow in your competency areas?
How will you track your progress in those areas?
Who needs to know about your plan?
How willing are you to do whatever it takes to implement your plan?
