If in the process of adding Windows NT systems to LAN Manager domains, it is important for you to implement LAN Manager compatible broadcasts within your Windows NT systems. This can be accomplished by accessing the control panel and clicking on the network icon. Then you can select the Server object and select on the Configuration button. Once in the dialog box, click the "Make Browser Broadcasts" to LAN Manager Clients box. Finally, you must shut down and restart the system in order to make it available to LAN Manager users.

Should a message not reach its destination when you are using the "net send" command, turn on the Alerter and Messenger services within the Server applet of the Control Panel. You must also make certain that the intended recipient is not logged on to several machines because only the machine first logged into will receive the message.

It is also very beneficial to synchronize the time on your Windows NT system with the domain controller or another Windows NT machine. In order to accomplish this task you need to type: net time\\nts /set on the command line. NTS is the name of the Windows NT machine with which you want to synchronize.
