The development of a diffusion model based on finite element analysis to simulate migration of additives from multilayer polymeric packaging in contact with food under non-isothermal conditions is described. The potential and limitations of the model are presented, and the correlation between experimental data determined using multilayer low-density polyethylene/polypropylene films and computed results is discussed. 16 refs.
