Chapter C: C Cycloid

C

C
(1) symbol for Celsius or Centigrade, a unit of temperature, as C; (2) symbol for the element carbon.
C-22
A registered trademark of Haynes International, Inc. for a nickel-based alloy having high strength, excellent resistance to corrosion, ease of welding, and fabrication.
Ca
Symbol for the element calcium.
CAD
Abbreviation for computer-aided design.
Cadalyte
A registered trademark of DuPont for a series of compounds for cadmium electroplating.
CAD/CAM
Abbreviation for computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing.
CADD
Abbreviation for computer-aided drawing and design.
cadmium
Metallic element. CAS number: 7440-43-9. An alloying element. Lowers melting point of certain alloys when used in low percentages. Used for protective coatings on metals, especially copper and steel (in electroplating); bearing metals such as babbitt, and low-melting alloys such as solders; brazing alloys; a deoxidizer in aluminum, nickel and silver alloys; control rods for reactors. Corrosion resistance is poor in industrial atmospheres; tarnishes in moist air. Highly toxic; carcinogenic, and the powder is flammable.
