face-centered cubic
A unit or cell of space lattice (crystalline) structure having 14 atoms with one located at each of the eight corners of the cubic unit and one at the center of each of the six faces of the cube. The atoms composing the corners of one lattice of the unit cell lie at the centers of the faces of another lattice of a cube. Metals having this atomic space lattice structure include aluminum, copper, gold, lead, nickel, palladium, platinum, rhodium, and silver.

face mill
A special form of large end mill cutter of the inserted-tooth type, used to produce flat surfaces at right angles to the axis of the cutter. Face mills are made in sizes 6 in (152.4 mm) or over and have inserted teeth that cut on the periphery and face. The rotating face machines the surface of the work, while the teeth on the periphery do most of the cutting and remove most of the stock.
