palladium
CAS number: 7440-05-3. An alloying metal that does not tarnish in air. The most reactive of the platinum group. Used for electrical relay contacts, Alloys with ruthenium makes "white" gold for use in jewelry, making special resistance alloys, aircraft spark plugs, high-temperature solders, protective coatings.

Yellow-brown, buttery solid at room temperature. Used as a cutting-tool lubricant; terne plating, in hot-dipping of tin coatings to prevent oxidation while it is cooling. Combustible.
parallel clamp
Also known as a toolmakers' clamp. A clamp consisting of two pointed jaws with a screw passing through the center of each jaw and another screw at the flat or opposite end of the jaws. Used to hold parts together or to hold small parts in the pointed end by tightening the screw at the flat end of the jaws which should be kept parallel to the workpiece surfaces.
