Integrated Waterflood Asset Management

Methods of Increasing Injectivity

Methods of Increasing Injectivity [26]

The following methods have been utilized for increasing injectivities of wells:

  • Backflow by pumping, swabbing, dry DST or nitrogen cushion

  • High rate pressure water injection, especially for wells completed in aquifers (normally used for low permeability zone)

  • Acidizing, especially in the presence of carbonate scales

  • Chemical washing, using chemicals/surfactants

  • Steam injection in zone with residual oil saturation, including some plugging caused by deposition of wax or solid hydrocarbons
