The Maintenance Scorecard: Creating Strategic Advantage

This appendix has been included within this book as a quick reference to a comprehensive list of indicators that are commonly used within the field of asset management. It has been broken down into sections representing the way with which maintenance professionals generally think about their business.
This list goes beyond standard indicators and includes various useful examples of how to exploit business intelligence and graphing tools. Included within each listing is a description of the indicator, its formula, graphic and explanatory examples where deemed necessary and an overview of the uses, benefits and weaknesses of each measure.
There is also a brief overview of how to generate the indicators with special attention paid to the data required to do so. These indicators require an understanding of the concepts behind certain aspects of asset management. While every effort has been made to explain these in brief, the concepts explained throughout this book will provide a deeper understanding of them.
While care has been taken to ensure the accuracy of this appendix, it is not a conclusive list. It will grow as time passes, thus increasing its use as a resource for maintenance professionals in the application of scientific principles to their physical asset base.
Indicators that are not considered to add value to the asset management effort, or are not relevant in the overall context of this book, have been excluded from this list.
