Microwave Radiometer Systems: Design and Analysis, Second Edition

13.7: Summary

13.7 Summary

A general-purpose, multifrequency mechanically scanned radiometer system has been described. The major characteristics of the system are:

  • Orbit height: 800 km;

  • Swath width: 1,498 km;

  • Polarization: H and V;

  • Incidence angle: 53 ;

  • Antenna aperture: 1 m;

  • Antenna rotation rate: 24 RPM;

  • Radiometric dynamic range: 0 313K.

Further specifications are found in Table 13.12. Twelve total power receivers are used, and the system requires the following resources:

  • DC power: 39W;

  • Weight: 34 kg.
