It is surprising to see how many motors can be found in cars and trucks. As shown in Table 4.1, over 50 motors may be used in a large, fully equipped vehicle. Even a small economy vehicle may use more than five motors. Several additional applications, such as electric steering, are currently under development, which will incorporate complex motor control designs.
