Remote Working: Linking People and Organizations

As stated in Chapter 1, there are estimated to be over 2 million remote workers in the United Kingdom. With the working population estimated at 20 million, this is a significant minority that will cross many industry, occupational and role boundaries. The jobs that these people do vary considerably; all they have in common is that they are remote workers. The purpose of this chapter is to help define who might be, or become, a remote worker and to provide guidelines for deciding if a role is suitable for remote delivery.
