Configuring Microsoft Outlook 2003

This appendix provides a list of all the policy settings exposed in the group policy editor through the Outlk11.adm administrative template. (See Chapter 2, Outlook Configuration Techniques, for details on how to install the template and use the group policy editor.) The settings are presented in the same order that you would see them in the group policy editor. HKCU is used as an abbreviation for the HKEY_CURRENT_USER registry hive.
Most of these options also exist as user preference settings in the Custom Installation Wizard and Custom Maintenance Wizard tools, in which case the registy values would reside in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ Microsoft key instead of the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\ Microsoft key.
All the settings discussed in this appendix are located in the group policy editor under User Configuration/Administrative Templates/Microsoft Office Outlook 2003, as shown in Figure A.1. We will walk through each node of the hierarchy in sequence, starting with Tools Options or rather with Tools Options/Preferences/E-mail options, since neither the Tools Options node nor the Preferences subnode contains any individual settings.
In the case of multipart policy settings, applying the setting sets the registry value for every option in the setting. For example, Figure A.1 shows the first setting under Tools Options/Preferences/E-mail options the Message handling policy setting.
