Configuring Microsoft Outlook 2003

As you saw in Chapter 1, Outlook stores its settings in many different locations the Windows registry, discrete files, and items and properties in the data stores themselves. To manage these settings, Microsoft provides a collection of free tools in the Office Resource Kit (ORK), plus the powerful Group Policy feature for mandating settings with Active Directory. In this chapter, you ll learn the following:
How to use the Office Profile Wizard (OPW), Custom Installation Wizard (CIW), and Custom Maintenance Wizard (CMW) to control how Outlook is configured
How to use Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to enforce Outlook settings
What tools to use to review settings before you deploy them with the ORK tools or GPOs
The ORK is a collection of articles and tools to assist you in deploying and managing Office installations, including installations of Outlook 2003 as a stand-alone program. The Office 2003 Resource Kit is available online at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/FX011511471033.aspx. You can download the ORK tools from http://www.microsoft.com/office/ork-archive/2003ddl.htm.
