Artificial War: Multiagent-Based Simulation of Combat

This appendix provides a visual summary (mainly in the form of screen captures) of some of the major changes that have been made to EINSTein s graphical user interface and main edit dialogs between versions 1.0 (and older) and 1.1 (and newer).
Color plate 30 (page 276) shows that the changes that have been made to EINSTein s toolbar and main menu are mostly cosmetic.
A few buttons those marked obsolete that are no longer relevant and/or whose functionality has been subsumed by pop-up dialogs activated by other buttons, have been removed. The older On-the-fly Parameters Changes main menu option has been eliminated as well, since almost all changes to any battlefield or agent parameter values made by the user during a run are now assumed to be on the fly. (If the values of those few parameters that do require that a scenario be first reinitialized before resuming a run are changed by the user, a warning prompt appears advising the user of this fact prior to displaying the edit dialog and recording the changes.
The major change is that since all of EINSTein s dialogs that contain agent-specific data are now tabbed (i.e. possess separate red and blue tabbed pages for data entry on a single over-arching edit dialog; see below); there is no longer any need to maintain separate red and blue toolbar buttons. Thus the older red and blue agent edit dialogs have been subsumed by a single group of neural-colored buttons...
