The propene gas sensing performance of WO 3 thin films has been investigated. The WO 3 thin films were deposited by a planar r.f. magnetron sputterer onto alumina transducers with Pt inter-digital electrodes. Exposure to different concentrations of propene gas results in changes in the carrier concentration and hence the conductivity of the film. The changes are proportional to gas concentrations.
