Determine (a) the value and (b) power dissipation of R S in the circuit shown in Figure 2.2. Assume that I z(min) equals 10 ma, and it is an ideal zener diode.

Solution:


  1. V min = V ? 4 = 24 ? 4 = 20 volts

    V max = V + 4 = 24 + 4 = 28 volts


  2. P = I S 2(max)R S = 0.22 watts
