There are some additional factors which contribute to the cooling and heating loads. Among these are fan and pump work as well as duct and piping losses. These are discussed in subsequent chapters.

In any case, the first law of thermodynamics prevails. Energy is neither created or destroyed. If energy moves into or out of the building, it must be accounted for and managed.
