Dedication

This book is dedicated to John Kittredge, a leader in adding facts, teaching leadership and written guidance to mass finishing. Much of the material on media and compounds in this book and in the literature come from John's experience as Technical Director at RotoFinish (now Hammond RotoFinish), one of the leading equipment manufacturers in this technology. John's knowledge of chemistry clearly appears in his years of publications about the impact that science has in mass finishing. John led the technology at work; he led numerous SME conference sessions on mass finishing, and, when he retired from both of those efforts, he led journalistic efforts to promote the field by penning a monthly mass finishing column for Products Finishing magazine.
