PART OVERVIEW

In this section, we will explore in detail the creation of the Building Information Model. The focus in this section is on the " Building Model" itself, with the " Information" part coming later. We will actually be working on two separate projects from start to finish throughout the course of this book; one residential and the other commercial. We begin in Chapter 4 by constructing a floor plan, which will become part of the project files later. In Chapter 5 we use the Project Management system in ADT to create and link together several files, each with its own unique focus, used together to create the complete composite building model. In Chapters 6 through 12, we undertake a thorough exploration of the major Autodesk Architectural Desktop object types such as Walls, Doors, Curtain Walls, Column Grids, Stairs, Roofs and Fixtures, each with its own special focus on how the parts fit into the complete building model.
