Any discussion about using Architectural Desktop to create floor plan layouts needs to begin with walls. After all, walls are the major component of any building. In this chapter, we'll make our first thorough examination of an ADT object the Wall object. We will look at other objects as well, but Walls will be the primary focus. The last several chapters were intended to get you comfortable with the theoretical underpinnings of ADT. Now that you are in the correct mindset, get ready to roll up your sleeves it is time to produce some drawings!
Throughout the course of the following hands-on tutorials, we will lay out the existing conditions floor plan for our residential project. In this chapter, we will explore the various techniques for adding and modifying walls, doors, and windows. In addition, we will add plumbing fixtures and other elements to make the floor plan more complete.

Basic object creation in ADT involves frequent interaction with the Tool and Properties palettes as well as a heavy use of right-click menus.
