Mastering Autodesk Architectural Desktop 2007

In this chapter, we will enclose our Commercial Project with a building skin. The skin will be comprised of masonry enclosure on three sides, with a Curtain Wall on the front of the building. The Curtain Wall is a "spanning" element beginning on the second floor and spanning the third and fourth floors. The correct display graphics of the spanning Curtain Wall on each floor is a built-in benefit of Project Navigator.
In order to complete the shell of the Commercial Project we will apply a Wall style to the Shell files created in Chapter 5 and use the Project Standards feature to synchronize the change to all floors. We will also build a custom Curtain Wall for the front fa ade. We will take a comprehensive look at ADT's Curtain Wall object to build this front fa ade this will be the major focus of the chapter. The main tools covered in this chapter include the following:
Work with project-based Tool Palettes.
Use Project Standards to synchronize styles.
Convert Walls to Curtain Walls.
Build a Curtain Wall.
Create a Custom Curtain Wall.
Convert an Elevation Sketch to a Curtain Wall.
Work with Curtain Wall In-Place Edit.
In this exercise, we will refine the Shell and Core Construct files (created in Chapter 5) with an appropriate Wall style from the Content Library and then synchronize the change across the project.
