Point 9: Behavioral Modeler Extension and Analysis Tools in Pro/ENGINEER

M. Veeramani

Behavioral Modeler eXtension (BMX) is a module of the Pro/ENGINEER (Pro/E) software package. Using BMX, you can capture changes in certain model attributes, such as mass and volume, with respect to changes in other attributes. Before you proceed to capture the behavioral change of the attributes, you analyze or measure the model attributes and optimize them.

In Pro/E, you can create an analysis feature that stores measurements or model attributes, which is used to perform an optimization analysis using BMX.

This ReferencePoint explains how to analyze model attributes and optimize the design solution using BMX. It also describes various analysis tools of Pro/E and explains how to create the analysis feature using these tools.

The Analysis Feature and Analysis Tools in Pro/ENGINEER

You can create analysis features to capture the behavior of a model in the form of parameters, such as the distance, mass, and volume of the model, and use the parameters to perform optimization studies.

You can perform the following types of analysis using BMX:

  • Sensitivity analysis: Extracts or computes the change in one model parameter with respect to another.

  • Feasibility analysis: Checks whether any model dimension or parameter value satisfies specific design constraints.

  • Optimization study: Extracts or computes the optimized value for model parameters that satisfies the design's goal and constraints.

  • Multiple objective design study: Extracts or computes a number of optimized solutions for model parameters that satisfy the defined design's goal and constraints.

To measure any model property, such as distance, mass, or volume,...
