Adding Fractions and Mixed Numbers. To add common fractions:

  1. Find and convert to the least common denominator.

  2. Add the numerators.

  3. Convert the answer to a mixed number, if necessary.

  4. Reduce the fraction to its lowest terms.

    Example:
