To establish clear direction and methodology for percolation testing in San Diego County.
"Hybridization" of percolation test procedures, concerns expressed by industry regarding percolation tests, and inconsistency in observed test methods have created a need to standardize a method that can be performed easily and will have results that can be duplicated on the basis of a single, countywide test.
Determine the area necessary to properly treat and maintain sewage underground, to size the disposal system with adequate infiltration surface on the basis of expected hydraulic conductivity of the soil and the rate of loading, and to provide for a system with long-term expectation of satisfactory performance.
All percolation testing in the county of San Diego shall follow procedures described herein. Any deviation shall be authorized only after receiving written approval by the Department of Environmental Health Services.
