Cast Iron Submersible Pumps
Description
Cast iron submersible pumps are designed to operate while fully submerged in the fluid they are intended to pump. These pumps are constructed with cast iron, which provides excellent strength and abrasion resistance, making them suitable for handling demanding pumping tasks.
Working Principle
Submersible pumps operate by using a sealed motor that turns an impeller within the pump housing. As the impeller rotates, it creates pressure that draws the fluid into the pump inlet. The impeller then accelerates the fluid and forces it into the discharge line. This design eliminates the need for priming and prevents cavitation, as the pump is always submerged in the fluid it is pumping. This makes submersible pumps particularly useful for applications where the pump needs to be placed at the bottom of a fluid reservoir.
