Description

A step-up transformer single-phase transformer is a type of power transformer that increases the voltage from the primary winding to the secondary winding. This means that the output voltage is higher than the input voltage, making it suitable for applications where higher voltage levels are required.

Working Principle

The working principle of a step-up transformer is based on electromagnetic induction. It consists of two windings: the primary winding and the secondary winding. When an alternating current (AC) flows through the primary winding, it creates a varying magnetic field around it. This varying magnetic field induces a voltage in the secondary winding. The voltage induced in the secondary winding is proportional to the ratio of the number of turns in the secondary winding to the number of turns in the primary winding. For example, if the secondary winding has more turns than the primary winding, the output voltage will be higher than the input voltage. This principle makes step-up transformers useful for increasing voltage levels in various applications.
