New Employee Orientation Training

The objectives of this activity are to help participants
get to know each other
become more comfortable in the work environment.
The materials needed for this activity are

Use this activity for a group of four or more people. If you have a group of more than six people, create small groups of no more than five people.
Ask people in each group to come up with a list of things they all have in common (other than working for the same company). Explain that each group will need an official scribe to record the characteristics.
Examples of characteristics: They all are parents, are married, own their own homes, take a foreign holiday every year, and so forth.
The objective is to come up with as many similarities as possible within a limited amount of time. Give them three or four minutes.
Call time after three or four minutes. If you have more than one group, survey the room for the group that has the most items on its list. Ask the winning (or only) group to share its list. You may want to give prizes to the group with the most items or the most interesting or unusual item.
