OBJECTIVE

The objective of this activity is to help participants get acquainted at the beginning of the orientation session.

MATERIALS

• Handout

  Handout 10-2: At the Movies Participant Instructions

• a selection of vintage or contemporary movie posters ones that attendees are likely to have seen.

TIME

• 30 45 minutes

PREPARATION

1. Make one copy of the handout for each participant.

2. Hang or display movie posters on the walls or on easels around the room.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Distribute Handout 10-2 to each participant.

2. Tell participants that they are to look around the room at the movie posters and select their three favourite films. Explain that there will be three rounds of activity. During Round #1, participants are to go to the area designated for their first movie choice; in Round #2, the area designated for their second choice; and in Round #3, the area designated for their third choice.

3. When the groups have formed for each round, ask participants to discuss the questions or topics that appear on their instruction sheet for that round.

   Round #1	Introduce yourself to your group members by stating your name, where you live and your position and responsibilities. Explain briefly why you selected this particular movie as your favourite.
   Round #2	Identify something you have in common with the other members in your group. Possible topics might include hobbies, sports activities, family, pets, or job.
