Sample agenda for a one-day programme
Step-by-step programme preparation and delivery instructions
The material in this workbook can be adapted easily to a variety of training needs and timeframes. This chapter offers a specific and concrete plan for creating an orientation programme geared to all employees, regardless of job level. It provides designs for a two-day programme and a one-day programme. The designs are flexible enough that you can choose among the activities to supplement your own programme design.
A two-day programme is appropriate when
key people within the organization support a comprehensive programme
the targeted audience is 12 or more
training facilities for groups are available
guest facilitators are available.
The content should include the following standard topics for a new employee orientation programme:
Company history and context
Terms and conditions
Policies and procedures
Employee programmes and services.
The subtopics for those categories are listed in Chapter 3.
The two-day design is a more comprehensive and, therefore, more effective option than a one-day programme. However, the requirements, directives and resources of your organization will drive the length of your programme as well as its content.
Before the training session:
Design the programme and schedule the session.
Reserve the room and request appropriate seating configuration.
