New Employee Orientation Training

The objective of this activity is to help participants focus on their specific orientation needs.
The materials needed for this activity are
pad of sticky notes for each participant
flipchart pages
markers
masking tape.

Prepare flipchart pages by writing on them the general topics that will be addressed in the session, one topic to a page. For example, one page may be labelled Benefits , another Company History , others Organization Structure/Departments , Products/Services , and so forth. Label one page Car Park .
Tape the flipchart pages to the wall.
Distribute a pad of sticky notes to each participant.
Explain that although you have a plan for the programme, you want to make sure you are on target with what attendees want to get out of the programme.
Point out that you have posted flipchart pages on the wall with the general topics to be covered in the programme. Using the sticky notes you distributed earlier, they are to write down questions they have about the topics. They have five minutes to write their questions, and they may write as many questions as they want one per note.
At the end of five minutes, ask participants to get up and stick their questions on the appropriate topic pages.
After all questions have been posted, quickly group similar questions, and briefly summarize or point out the most common questions. If participants have posted questions that will not (or cannot) be...
