Objectives:

• Learn to import existing solid models into the Presentation Panel

• Learn to design parts trails in the Presentation Panel

Chapter 8 includes instruction on how to design the presentation shown below.

1. Start Inventor by referring to Chapter 1 Getting Started .

2. After Inventor is running, begin by creating the parts shown in Figure 1.

3. Save the block as Chapter 8 Part1.ipt. and save the pin as Chapter 8 Part2.ipt where they can easily be retrieved at a later time. Close both files.

4. Move the cursor to the upper left portion of the screen and left click on the New icon as shown in Figure 2.

5. The Open dialog box will appear. Select the English tab and Standard (in).iam and left click on OK as shown in Figure 3.

6. The Assembly Panel will open.

7. Your screen should look similar to Figure 4.

8. Move the cursor to the upper left portion of the screen and left click on Place Component as shown in Figure 5.

9. The Open dialog box will appear. Left click on Chapter 8 Part1.ipt. Left click on Open as shown in Figure 5.

10. The block will appear attached to the cursor. Do NOT left click. Press Esc on the keyboard. Your screen should look similar to Figure 6.
