The publisher of this handbook, Industrial Press, Inc., New York, NY, USA, has also published my book called Fanuc CNC Custom Macros, with the subtitle Programming Resources for Fanuc Custom Macro B Users. This handbook is a highly comprehensive look at macro applications in CNC machine environment for virtually all Fanuc control systems. It includes detailed explanations and many practical examples. In no way, the few page chapter presented here can replace a full size book and it is not my intention to do that.
The purpose of this chapter is to present an brief introduction to Fanuc macros to a CNC programmer who has no experience with this advanced method of programming. It is possible that this chapter will open up a new world of programming to many CNC users a world that has many untapped possibilities. This chapter offers a short but concise introduction to Fanuc macros, using one practical example of actual development. Although the same subject is covered in the specialized publication as well, the approach used in this chapter is aimed at the programmer who is new to macros. When you feel that macros are useful to the type of your work, the Fanuc CNC Custom Macros handbook will help you to get into the depth of this fascinating subject.
