3.2 Base Case Results

The results from applying both automated procedures to the base case example are shown in Figure 3.2. The sensible load from both the heat balance procedure and the customized RTS procedure are shown. The loads calculated using the RTS procedure are slightly larger than those from the heat balance procedure. Generally, this is the case, and an extensive comparison is given by Spitler (1997).

The heat balance results from the summary output file, Hbcsum.out, are shown in Figure 3.3. This file shows the peak cooling load and the cooling load at the adjacent hours before and after the peak hour. It also shows the required system airflow rate and the heat gains that were imposed. For reference, some of the zone geometry details also are repeated.
