a system to provide financial rewards to large groups of managers and employees (this is beyond cell incentives) who work together on productivity and quality-improvement programs. A proportion of the measurable operational and financial gains are allocated to the managers and employees as a group. It is not profit-sharing in that gainsharing is tied to employee performance. Considerations in creating gainsharing programs are group composition, baseline performance, the gainsharing formula, and frequency of payouts. There are a variety of plans.
