Mobile Communications Engineering: Theory and Applications, Second Edition

Acknowledgments

The first edition of this book was published in 1982. After 15 years, I did not realize the time it would take to do a revision. The revision process was very much like altering a dress. The effort in cutting and patching an old dress can become very time-consuming. I deleted some out-of-date material and added a great deal of new material, since the content and structure of the first edition was good. Fortunately, I had an excellent staff to assist me with the revision. I would like to extend my thanks to Mrs. Carla Scherbert, Ms. Atyeh Sohrabzadeh, Mr. Walter Strohmayer, and Ms. Maribeth Eisenmann. Also, for the full support from my colleagues, my students, my readers, and my family, I owe my deepest appreciation. I am pleased with this revised edition, and I think it will serve my readers better than an entirely new volume.
