10.7 INTER-RELATIONSHIP OF PARAMETERS

Since all parameters describe the same two-port network, they are interrelated. One set of parameters may be expressed in terms of the other set.

There are the following steps for the transformation:

Step 1. Write the standard equations for both sets.

Step 2. Solve the equations (or rearrange) of the second set for the dependent (unknown) variables of the first set of equations and express the resulting equations in the form of the equations of the first set.

Step 3. Compare the equations obtained in step 2 with those of the first set to obtain the required parameters.

10.7.1 Z-parameters in Terms of Other Parameters

  1. Z-parameters in terms of Y-parameters.

The standard equation of Z- and Y-parameters are

    and

Now rearrange Equations (10.3) and (10.4) into the form of Equations (10.1) and (10.2).

    Equation (10.3) Y 22 - Equation (10.4) Y 12,

    Similarly,

Now comparing Equations (10.1) and (10.2) with Equations (10.13) and (10.14),

  2. Z-parameters in terms of ABCD parameters.

The standard equation of ABCD parameters,

Now rearrange Equations (10.5) and (10.6) into the form of Equations (10.1 and 10.2),

Putting the value of V 2 from Equation (10.15) into Equation (10.5),

Now comparing Equations (10.16) and (10.15) with Equations (10.1) and (10.2),

  3. Z-parameters in terms of A ?B ?C ?D ? parameters.

    The A ?B ?C ?D ? parameter equations are

Rearranging Equation (10.12) into the form of Equation...
