Help with Vacuum Cups and Vacuum Pads specifications:
Vacuum Pad Type
Back to Top
Vacuum Pad Type | |||
Your choices are... | |||
Standard | General purpose cup-type vacuum pad. Typically used in multiple-pad systems.
Deep Cup | Deeper cup allows for some surface curve conformance. Consult with manufacturer for suitability on use with flat surfaces.
Oval | Oval pads provide greater surface area than circular pads. They are often used for translational conveying due to their increased holding capacity.
Square | Square pad or cup; usually has rounded corners.
Rectangular | Rectangular pad or cup; usually has rounded corners
Curved | Curved profile for use with cylindrical or spherical objects.
Bellows | Accordion-type bellows on pad can provide irregular surface conformance or level difference compatibility. Contracting bellows can simulate a short stroke for pickup.
Cleated | Radial cleats provide increased holding strength.
Sponge | Foam or sponge type pads provide a high level of irregular surface conformance.
Flat | Flat pads are typically large with some rubber cushioning and are used for large flat objects for which the gripping surface is always parallel to the pad face.
Ring | Suction element follows a circular path (or edge contour of non-circular pad); often used in disk holding such as CDs and DVDs.
Other / Custom | Unlisted, proprietary or specialized type of vacuum cup; may include custom design or capability.

Diameter / Maximum Dimension: | Diameter of a circular pad or large dimension of a non-circular pad.
Search Logic: | User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.
Stroke (if Applicable): | Retraction or lift stroke length for a bellows type pad or pad mounted on retractable hardware.
Search Logic: | User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.
Material: | The material used in the pad itself. Some materials may be more suitable for harsh temperature, high vacuum heavy loads, or chemical environments. Consult with manufacturer for specific pad material properties and applications.
Your choices are... | |||
EPDM | Ethylene propylene (EPDM) offers good resistance to sunlight, weathering and ozone. It has poor resistance to petroleum oils and fuel. Good heat and compression set resistance. Suggested operating temperature (-70° to 275° F). Trade names include Nordel® (Dupont Dow Elastomers), Vistalon® (Exxon Mobil Chemical), Epsyn® (DSM Elastomers), Royalene® (Uniroyal Chemical), and Epcar® (B.F. Goodrich).
Neoprene | Polychloroprene (CR - Neoprene) is a synthetic rubber that resists degradation from sun, ozone, and weather. It performs well in contact with oils and many chemicals. Neoprene remains useful over a wide temperature range, displays outstanding physical toughness, and resists burning inherently better than exclusively hydrocarbon rubbers. Neoprene also offers resistance to damage caused by flexing and twisting.
Nitrile (NBR) | Nitrile (NBR - Buna-N) offers good resistance to petroleum hydrocarbons and fuels. Widely used with most oils, hydraulic fluids, and alcohol. Many compound variations are available for specific applications.
Polyurethane | Polyurethane is a diverse class of materials exhibiting good elongation, recovery and toughness properties. They are flexible and have good abrasion resistance.
PVC | Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) is a widely used material that has good flexibility, smooth surface, and nontoxic qualities. Some grades are used in food and chemical processes due to the inert nature of PVC. Brand names include: ACP® and Dural® (Alpha Gary), Geon® (Geon), Benvic® (Solvay), Flexalloy® (Teknor Apex).
Rubber | Natural compounds such as gum rubber (polyisoprene) and latex.
Silicone | Silicones are polymers in which organics groups, such as methyl and phenyl groups are bonded to the silicone atoms in chains of inorganic siloxanes (-Si-O-Si-). Their properties include heat, cold and weather resistance, electrical insulation, release, water repellency and defoaming.
Vinyl | Vinyl exhibits good flexibility and chemical resistance; it is used in many medical and chemical applications.
Viton® | A range of fluoropolymer elastomers whose formulation can be tailored to a reasonable extent to meet the needs of individual end-uses. They are normally black and have high heat, oil and chemical resistance but indifferent low temperature performance.
Other | Unlisted, specialized, or proprietary material.

Vacuum Porting: | |||
Your choices are... | |||
Top Port | Vacuum line port is in-line or on top of the vacuum pad.
Side Port | Vacuum port is on the side of the pad; sometimes used in tight space applications.

Connection: | |||
Your choices are... | |||
None / Pad Only | Pad or cup with no mounting hardware.
Threaded | Any threaded connector such as NPT, BSP, UNC, etc.
Quick-connect | Push-on or sleeve style connector designed for rapid connection and disconnection.
Hose Barb | Ridged or barbed connector sleeve for air line installation.
Other | Unlisted or specialized connector type.
