Linking Learning and Performance: A Practical Guide to Measuring Learning and On-the-Job Application

The job performance data collection tools discussed in chapter 7 are designed so that the data, when collected, can be easily tabulated. How the data are organized for summary or analysis will depend on the evaluation design and the purpose of analysis. For example, if the evaluation is a control versus experimental group design, the data need to be organized for group comparisons. If it is a one-shot evaluation design, data do not need to be organized. Different computer applications will require the data to be organized differently. If relying on a statistician to do the analysis, consult this person to determine the way in which the data need to be recorded. Make sure the statistician understands the business and performance objectives. If the data are being collected electronically, set up the program for data transfer to an appropriate data summary table.
