Gas Well Deliquification

Plunger systems work well for gas wells with liquid-loading problems as long as the well has sufficient GLR and pressure to lift the plunger and liquid slugs.
Plunger lift works well with larger tubing so there is no need to downsize the tubing.
Conventional plunger lift works much better if there is no packer, and this can be a problem if the old packer is removed.
Although the plunger lift can take the well to depletion, the recoverable production may not be quite as much as using a more expensive beam pump system to pump liquids out of the well in the latter stages of depletion.
Use of special standing valves with provisions to bleed off large liquid slugs may increase production.
A new two-piece plunger concept is introduced that requires little or no shut-in period and also is able to operate with a packer present. Design parameters are being further developed.
