Mastering Autodesk VIZ 2007

In the previous four chapters, you spent time getting familiar with VIZ and exploring the available modeling tools. The primary purpose of VIZ is to generate visualizations of existing or proposed architectural facilities. These may consist of external images of a building s outward appearance, internal layout of rooms and offices or a combination of both. In this chapter, you ll focus on the tools contained in the VIZ toolset designed specifically to create parametric architectural objects (walls, windows, railings, and so on) in your scenes. Items added to a scene for purely aesthetic purposes, such as people, cars, and plants, and not part of the architectural structure are referred to as entourage. New in VIZ is the EASYnat plug-in by Bionatics and Archvision s RPC plug-in, which are used create entourage objects in a scene.

Buildings exist in many forms from homes, condominiums, and office buildings to shopping malls, prisons, and airports. The AEC (architectural, engineering, construction) items common to all modern buildings are walls, doors, and windows, and VIZ contains a parametric library of these objects as well as stairs, railings, and foliage. Design and visualization time can be reduced significantly by using VIZ s AEC objects to construct your scenes. This includes both the initial scene building period as well as time spent making modifications.
