A simple linear approximation used to estimate the limits for solving the equation for thresholds, Y 0 above clutter is

x is the clutter to noise ratio.

The threshold above clutter is given by the factor Y C

(11A.2)

Figure 11A.1 shows Y C in decibels plotted against the clutter-to-noise ratio in decibels with the approximation (11A.3) shown as dashed lines.
