Description
Resettable fuses, also known as polymeric positive temperature coefficient (PTC) devices, are designed to protect electrical circuits from overcurrent conditions. Unlike traditional fuses that need to be replaced after a fault, resettable fuses can return to their normal state once the fault is cleared, allowing the circuit to resume normal operation without the need for manual intervention.
Working Principle
Resettable fuses operate by increasing their internal resistance in response to an overcurrent or short-circuit condition. This increase in resistance limits the current flow, thereby protecting the circuit from damage. Once the fault condition is removed, the device cools down, and its internal resistance drops back to nearly its initial value, allowing normal current flow to resume. This self-resetting capability makes them particularly useful in applications where maintenance access is limited or where continuous operation is critical.

Resettable fuses are widely used in various fields due to their versatility and reliability. Specific examples of their applications include:
